The Continuously Adjustable Snare Throw Off
The first ever continuously adjustable snare throw off (nicknamed NATO-1) as "Not Another Throw Off" is concieved in 2021, designed & tested by Sonique Drums in 2022, and became generally available at the NAMM show in 2023.
The Socket Drum Key
The first ever socket style drum key is designed by Sonique Drums in 2022 that provides 3x faster engagement on tension rods. The socket drum key became generally available at the NAMM show in 2023.
True To Fit Drum Hardware
Conceived in 2022, Sonique became the first company to ever feature snare drum hardware that was machined to match the drum shell curvature. This concept began with the throw off and butt plate but later included all hardware that touches the drum, effectively eliminating the need for any kind of gasket.
Snare Cord Replacement In A Strap Form Factor
Designed and released in 2025, Sonique Drums is the first company to ever produce a snare strap narrow enough to fit in snare wire holes originally designed for cord. This engineering first brings the strength and durability of a strap with the benefits of a cord form factor.
Eliminated The Swivel Nut
The swivel nut was originally created to adapt to manufacturing variances with hoop size, hole placement on hoops, shell diameter, and the standoff height of lugs. Nearly 100 years later, and with modern technology, we make shells and hoops using computer aided design, and do not need this crutch to walk.
Lug Torque Control
Developed in 2024, Sonique Drums is currently the only company using a backing plate to relocate and equally redistribute load and prying forces to the inside shell of the drum. By adding this design element, we significantly reduce the prying and torque stress on outer face of the drum shell & lug under high tension.
Clamping Beater Weights
Developed in 2025, Sonique Drums is the first company to ever introduce the a bass drum beater weight that uses a clamping action instead of a single key screw to hold the weight in position. This engineering first was borrowed from our own NATO-1 design and enables full contact and tension around the beater shaft, nearly eliminating any possibiilty of slip.
Low Profile Throw Off
The NATO-1 has one of the lowest, if not the lowest profile for a snare throw off in the drum industry. At just 1.14" or 29mm off the surface of the shell, the extremely low profile combined with the break angle at the bottom of the mechanism allows for a true vertical force pulling the snare wires. This ensures proper and uniform contact across the length of the wires.
